Tree Management
Trees & Development
Most people would agree that trees contribute significantly to our living and working areas.
Effective tree management calls on the skills of an Arboricultualist throughout the planning and development process:
Pre-Development Tree Survey
The aim of a Pre-Development Tree Survey is to identify the tree-related issues that may influence the planning, design and construction phases of a project. This information can then be used to make informed decisions about appropriate land-use, tree retention and enable design constraints and opportunities to be discussed with the design consultants. This report should be prepared early in the planning process.
Construction Impact Assessment
A Construction Impact Assessment evaluates the proposed development and assesses the potential impacts on the existing trees.
The Construction Impact Assessment may also provide information to assist other project consultants in design alternatives, construction techniques and the preparation of building specifications to minimise the impact on trees.
Tree Protection Plan
A Tree Protection Plan sets out the processes required to initiate, manage and protect trees during the construction process.
Tree Protection Plans are often adopted within Development Approval Conditions of Consent to ensure developers take the necessary precautions regarding tree protection.
Site Supervision
IVM can undertake periodic monitoring of active development sites to ensure that appropriate tree protection measures are being carried out to prevent unnecessary damage. IVM will also monitor the health and structure of your trees throughout the construction period.
Every project experiences small changes once construction begins because of actual site conditions. IVM is able to provide advice on tree management to manage these unforeseen circumstances.
Post Construction Monitoring and Maintenance
Even with thorough tree protection measures, trees retained on construction sites are placed under considerable stress. Following the construction period, IVM can monitor the trees and specify any remedial or maintenance work if required.
